Mechanic's Liens Filing Deadlines

A Memorandum of Mechanic's Lien must be recorded:

  • 90 days from the last day of the month in which work was done or material was furnished; or
  • 90 days from the date the building is completed or work is terminated.
The Bill to Enforce the Mechanic's Lien must be filed within the following periods, whichever occurs last:
  • 6 months from the date the Memorandum was recorded; or
  • 60 days from the date the building is completed or work is terminated.
You can file any number of claims on a property, but your Memorandum cannot include a claim for labor or materials supplied more than 150 days prior to the last day your labor or materials were furnished before you filed the Memorandum.
