Biography: Jeffrey S. Romanick


Education: State University of New York at Binghamton (B.A. Political Science with minor in Economics, 1989); The American University's Washington College of Law (J.D. cum laude, 1992).

Bar Admissions: 1992, Commonwealth of Virginia and U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit; 1993, State of Maryland, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, U.S. District Court of Maryland, and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia; 1994, District of Columbia; 1996, U.S. District Court, District of Columbia.

Professional Memberships: American Bar Association; Member of the Congressman Walter B. Chandler American Inn of Court; Fairfax Bar Association.

Professional Experience: Jeffrey, a partner in the law firm, is a skilled trial lawyer and appears in court on a daily basis.   Through years of experience, Jeffrey has developed, adopted and refined trial techniques that provide his client’s with representation of the highest quality both inside and outside of the courtroom.  In every case, civil or criminal, Jeffrey will explore opportunities to obtain the best outcome possible for his clients, but never in a way that will compromise the position the client must take to win in Court.  Jeffrey appears regularly in courts throughout Northern Virginia, D.C. and Maryland, and has perfected his trial skills in the Fairfax County Courthouse, where he is a familiar face and presence to the judges and those attorneys who practice in Fairfax.  Jeffrey regularly consults and collaborates with the other leading trial attorneys of Northern Virginia to stay at the forefront of the trends, techniques and latest effective arguments being presented to the judges and juries in Virginia.

Jeffrey is personable and approachable.  A veteran trial attorney, Jeffrey has the experience to know what it takes to prepare for and win a case.  He fights hard for all of his clients each and every day.   Jeffrey brings this strong litigation knowledge and his trial skills with him to the transactional aspect of his practice.   Jeffrey’s contract drafting and business advice is provided with the authority and knowledge of what actually happens inside a courtroom.   Because of the breadth of his experience, Jeffrey provides effective counsel to his business clients in corporate, transactional, enforcement and litigation matters.  Over the years, Jeffrey has assisted his business clients in a broad range of entity formation and governance issues, employee problems, and commercial matters involving sales, purchases, marketing, distribution, financing and collection issues.

Jeffrey has also represented commercial landlords since graduating from law school.   Jeffrey provides his landlord clients with complete and effective representation. Jeffrey has created drafted, developed and perfected effective leasing documents.  Jeffrey has negotiated with the most combative of tenant representatives and effectively represented the interests of the Landlord inside the courtroom.

Lecturer: Walter B. Chandler American Inn of Court; Farmers Insurance Group of Companies; and, Capital Area Collection Managers. In addition, Jeffrey has provided in-house seminars for clients. Topics of seminars and lectures by Jeffrey have included: Attorney Fee Issues - Creditors Providing Special Benefit to the Bankruptcy Estate; Bankruptcy Appeals - Perfecting the Appeal; Estate Planning; How to Choose a Collection Attorney; Automatic Stay Issues - Mechanic Liens and Foreclosures; Post-discharge Issues - Enforcing the Post-discharge Injunction, Litigation Against Discharged Debtors, and Protection Against Discrimination; and, Bankruptcy Basics.

Personal History: Jeffrey S. Romanick, originally from New York, has lived in the Metropolitan Washington area since 1989.  Jeffrey is married with children and in his free time enjoys reading historical fiction and technothrillers, skiing and hiking.
